Ajin: Demi-Human is a Japanese manga series that Gamon Sakurai writes and illustrates. Good! Afternoon magazine published it in installments. Later, it became an anime series and several films. The plot centers on Kei Nagai, a high school student who learns he’s an “Ajin,” a rare and puzzling type of immortal being. As Kei struggles with his new identity, he enters a world full of fear, violence, and plots. Story of “Ajin”

The Ajin tale kicks off with Kei Nagai, a regular high school kid who gets hit by a truck and dies. But to his shock and terror, he comes back to life without a scratch showing he’s an Ajin. Ajins can’t die and can heal from any wound. They can also call up a weird thing called a “black ghost” to fight for them. People and the government fear Ajins so they hunt them down. When caught, Ajins often face cruel tests.

Kei’s life takes a sudden turn as he becomes a wanted man chased by government agents and bounty hunters. As he runs, he meets other Ajins, including the mysterious and brutal Sato, who wants to topple the government and create a new world order for Ajins. Kei has to survive in this risky world juggling his own safety with the moral questions his new powers raise and the actions of his fellow Ajins.

Main Characters

  • Kei Nagai: The main character, a high school student who finds out he’s an Ajin after a deadly accident. Kei has brains and resourcefulness but grapples with the ethical challenges of his new identity and the brutality around him.
  • Kaito: Kei’s devoted friend since childhood who assists him in fleeing from the authorities. Kaito shows courage and reliability ready to put his life on the line to shield Kei.
  • Sato (Hat): The chief bad guy, an Ajin who has a taste for brutality and disorder. Sato used to be a soldier who takes pleasure in his immortality and aims to spark a revolt against humans.
  • Tosaki: A government agent with the job to capture Ajins. Tosaki has determination and shows no mercy but starts to doubt his own methods and reasons as the story moves forward.
